BI CPU 100% on playback

While looking into this I've been trying to update/change the driver to see if that helps, but every one I try says it's incompatible even though it says it's for a 4590.

This is what it's got right now, but I can't really find any info on the current driver other than for a specific laptop, even on the Intel site.

I've changed the power settings of the computer to performance and BI is now running at 15-20% with the console open, but still at 100% when playing back on the four cameras. Could this driver issue have something to do with it?View attachment 40538

There is no i5 4790 so we figured it was the other... The driver often does not install if you're using an oem installation of windows from the PC manufacturer... There are ways around this but if you're in fact using the original installation then it's best you wipe it install clean using the Microsoft media creation tool.

I gotcha.

After I posted I was able to update the driver through the HP site and got it to work (apparently generic Intel drivers won't), but didn't notice any difference with the playback issue. There are a couple more previous versions that I could try- does this sound like an issue with the driver (should I try a few more?)or something else that I should just fix with a wipe and install with media creation?

If you were in my shoes, what would your next step be?
 
@fenderman interestingly, I got it down to 10% with live preview on the console after some adjustments with Intel GPU options, still 100%, though, at 4 camera playback at 4x the speed. It's running super well with everything EXCEPT playback.

Could it really be drawing that much CPU power by playing 4 videos at 10fps each at the same time?

@bp2008 you're right. So do you think this is typical for an i5-4590 processor and is just something I'll have to deal with or upgrade? I guess I'm just wondering if it's abnormal or not and, if it is abnormal, if there's a fix for it.
 
Toggle the "Also BVR" checkbox in each camera's properties > Video tab. It should be checked if you experience too high of CPU usage during playback, as checking this box will enable hardware acceleration when playing back bvr files.

Playing 4 cameras simultaneously at 4x speed is a lot like playing 16 cameras at 1x speed, which would push the limits of an i5-4590 even if you had hardware acceleration enabled.

Thanks @bp2008! I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I've read that some people experience "side effects" from using the "Also BVR" checkbox so that has been the cause of my hesitation.
 
Yes, there are some side-effects. How much they will bother you is another question entirely. If you don't do a lot of seeking, you might not notice at all.
