It crashed last night and again tonight. Anyone else having the same issue? I am running Win7 64-bit.

I downgraded it for now to see if the problem is resolved.

No crashes over night, so it must have been something in the update.

I, too, am having the problem of BI continually crashing every few hours. Unfortunately, downgrading to previous versions didn't help. In fact, i have tried from version 3.63.06, 3.63.03, 3.61.03, 3.60.05, 3.59.03, 3.58.01, 3.57.01 and 3.56.03. All suffers from frequent crashing. BI actually worked very well and stable for several months. Then I added 13 more Foscam 9805E cameras to it. It has been crashing since. PC is fairly robust at i7, SSD, 12G, 7.2K 3TB Drive for video storage and such. If anyone has any ideas to try, I would appreciate it. I will send the same info to the BI support email as well. Thanks.

@StealthCat, welcome to the forum. First thing to look at with that many cams is memory use see what numbers you are hitting and if the crash occurs as the memory use builds up...blue iris is a 32 bit app so memory is limited not withstanding your 12gb...as you near 3gb of memory use blue iris will become unstable. A 64bit version is in the works...Also please post the event viewer info about the crash.. In the interm you can use blue iris tools to auto restart and email you about crashes. http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php?198-Blue-Iris-Tools-Weather-Overlay-Watchdog-amp-more!
What i7 are you using? there is a huge variation between the generations and models..what is your cpu use like?
As an aside, when shopping for cameras there are WAY better options than foscam...In the 1.3mp arena like your foscams there are these dahuas...

They can be had for as little as 70-75 on aliexpress http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Dahua-1-3-Megapixel-720P-ONVIF-3-6mm-20m-IR-Bullet-IP-Camera-12v-PoE-IP66/1378587409.html
3mp are about 85-100....but dont have as good nightvision as the 1.3mp....
These cameras are superior to the foscams in every way...

Dear Fenderman.
The BlueIris.exe process is indeed hitting 3GB (3,054,904KB) of RAM allocation. I had not thought about the 4GB memory limit for a while and I believe you nailed the problem for me. I am very much surprised from your extremely quick response as well as detailed and very helpful message. Please do allow me to express my sincere thanks. I will do as you suggested in your response. Hopefully 64bit version will come out soon. There really is no beating the value proposition for BI. I will check out the other cameras you suggested. Thanks again from the bottom of my heart!

No problem, glad to help. You may try and decrease memory use by lowering frame rates (in your cameras interface). Recording with the direct to disc option may help as well (it reduces cpu use but it should also help with memory use)...camera properties>record tab>file format/compression. Also reducing pretrigger frames will help...dont do both though..when recording direct to disc you should have at least double your frames per seconds as your pretrigger frames...this has to do with recording starting on the i-frames...see the help file for the direct to disc option...

Dear Fenderman:
Thank you for the great tip. I have reduced the frame rate on 10 HD cams down to 15 fps. Memory usage has dropped to 2.4GB. I will monitor it for a while to see if it still crashes before trying the direct to disc route. The PC is of an older unit, running an old i7 2600 @3.4G. BI CPU hovers around 50% to 60%. The setup contains 33 IP cameras, with 24 @1280x960, rest are VGA res. I can't say that I am surprised to run into a few problem given the load. But I am very glad to have received your great help in keeping this unit stable. I have also downloaded BI Tools as a standby. I will report back after monitoring it for a while. Thank you again.

Mine crashed just after applying windows updates. I dropped it back to a previous version and waited for the next update. No problems since.

Dear Fenderman et al.
It's been two days since my last post and there is some good news to report. BI has not crashed for the past 2 days, whereas it crashes almost every few hours prior to implementing your suggestions. As additional FYI, the memory usage creeps upward to 3GB, but then appears to have some memory garage collection routine that would bring the memory usage down a bit. So it hovers between 2.8 to 3GB whereas it would stay above 3GB at all times before. I now have BIT installed as a watchdog on the process just in case. I have also been reading up on this great forum and have picked up some great information. Thanks to Fenderman and all for helping out a newb. Truly appreciated it.
