I may have missed some change that has taken place with 3rd party sending emails using gmail. BL can no longer send my alerts by email. Does anyone know of a change that took place?

What email service are you using? If it's GMail do a search for GMail here on IPCT. GMail made some security changes recently and you need to change how BI sends email through GMail.

Just a few found in 20 seconds typing GMAIL in the title in the search function LOL :lmao:

Three options:

  • Change email provider
  • If using Blue Iris update to latest version that has OAUTH capabilities
  • In GMAIL, set up two factor verification and create an app password and use the app password in your device.

Gmail Shuts Down 3rd Party Apps
It appears today google is enforcing their new rule of not allowing 3rd party (IP video cameras) to send email through their servers. Anyone found another service or solution? Myself and a few others were using the Event action in an Axis camera to send a snapshot to gmail of triggered events.

This one worked for me. I had to go to Gmail support to figure it out but it worked out fine. Thanks so much.

The above process worked for about an hour then the BI log noted "SMS Error with Gmail API:401 Unauthorized"
After going through the "OAuth" procedure again under "edit email server" text alerts are working for the time being.
I also set up 2-step verification and Google states that "Blue Iris Has access to Gmail"
I have a feeling that Google's authorizations are timing out.
