Hi all,

I have a Dahua IPC-HDBW8231E-ZE and the daytime picture quality is amazing.
However the night time pics always have these blurry spots on the image. Can anyone advise what might be causing them? Is this something in the dome cover i need to clean off?

Attached are day and night images.

Thanks

That may be caused by being a dome camera. The different light sources are bouncing off the dome. Try cleaning off the dome , inside and out.

That is one of the reasons to use a turret camera.

Also, is your camera's lens-shield ring in place:

This should be intercepting light from the camera's own infrared LEDs.

If that is in place, then as a fact-finding step, turn off the camera's infrared and see if the artifacts vanish. If so, it's the cam's own IR causing it. If not, turn off any external lights that could be hitting the dome and see if that resolves it. If so, arrange some sort of shield to shade the camera from the external light sources.

welcome @pommie

I concur that it is most definitely a dome issue as others have noted.

Please let us know what the exact cause turns out to be. ( dirty dome? lens-shield? lights from outside the dome causing reflection issues? .. )

Thanks, will check this also.

Hi Guys, thanks for all the advice.
I had a play with the settings last night and essentially turning off the IR made the biggest difference. I didnt touch the Dome cover and am quite happy with the results (see attached)

Turning off IR just proved the theory that it’s a probably a problem with the lens ring needing adjusted to seal properly.

Have you tested to see if you get a good image with movement ? I would recommend it. It’s easy to get a pretty picture until you get movement in the scene.

I didnt fit the camera, so if there is any lens ring missing then i guess im stuck with that. I thought the image was actually quite good and I did watch the video at night and it looked ok to me apart from the glare of the car lights (see attached)
Should i expect better for this modelcar lights.JPG?

If you’re not getting motion blur with it I suppose it’s fine. But you might want to test by walking in front of it at night without car headlights and see if you get a clear image with movement.

I have the bullet version and its a very good camera but I run IR at night
