Hi All,

Wondering if anyone has found an NVR that incorporates the easy to use mobile app with motion alerting that Blue Iris offers with a set and forget NVR style like Hikvision.

I also think the Hikvision web interface is easier to use than Blue Iris's.

Blue Iris motion detection seems more reliable and quick and easy to flick through alerts.

It would be good to find a hybrid of these two products.

It doesnt exist...blue iris can also be set and forget, just dont install any updates. Hikvisions web interface is terrible since you cannot view motion alerts via the interface if you also choose to record 24/7...

Agreed.

I personnaly use Blue Iris but I wouldnt use it for clients and its just not too user friendly and I'd get a million phone calls.

However the mobile app and alerting system is easy to use.

I have many folks using blue iris systems i have set up. The mobile app is significantly better than Hikvisions. Try to review video on a hikvision nvr remotely via the app, almost impossible to do it quickly. There is nothing for the end user to maintain. They dont call me. The systems simply run as they should. An end user who has no clue should not be touching an NVR nor a pc. With the pc, if there is an issue, its much easier to maintain since you can remote in quickly with no assistance from the end user. I have stopped using standalone NVR's long ago..

Its tempting. What pc do you use?

I install anywhere from 5-10+ cctv systems a week. Not sure its viable to pump these out like that.

HP elitedesks ...i5-4590 haswell mostly...but now using the skylake model. Small form factor (not ultra slim or mini)...has room for 2.5 and 3.5 drives. I get them for 300 on ebay...3 year next business day warranties. Would not take much longer than an NVR to setup...
you can charge a premium for it...otherwise, you can look at dahua nvr's..

I have looked at the Dahua NVR's the have continuous and motion but its still not amazing to filter through all the recorded footage.

The new Hikvision's allow you to do the same now with motion along the time line but its much the same as Dahua and still not great.

You tried any of these other ones like Exacq or XProtect Milestone?

I dont believe New hikvision allows you to view motion events on the timeline if recording 24/7 unless you are using the NVR interface. The mobile app and web brower do not support this function. Milestone and exacq are both very good, but you are looking at 50 dollars per camera at a minimum...100 if you want certain functions like recording to nas/two way audio...

See screenshot of a 7604 you can view motion via the web interface now. Pitty it can't be done via the app. Maybe in a new update.

They need to bring that to the moble app as well as the ability to zoom in on the timeline...
