And hopefully you purchased pure solid copper ethernet cable of at least 24awg size, and not copper clad aluminum. Why we harp about NEVER using CCA ethernet cable. | IP Cam Talk
Just because connections are in a water proof box, doesn't mean they can't have problems with corrosion, especially since you aren't using Di-electric grease.
Did you read the link on waterproofing connections?

Does it have to be any specific dielectric grease?
I use the CRC brand I linked earlier so I can only recommend it...others here have mentioned Permatex, maybe someone will chime in with another brand.
I like the way the dispenser on the CRC allows you to dial-up a tiny amount.

We use Motorcraft dielectric grease in the Ford dealership service department. It works great on electrical connections and also for brake caliper mounting pins. I think it lists for about 18 bucks per tube. I've got a ton of it if anyone in the Houston area wants any for free.
