Can I use an Intel NUC as my NVR?

How many cameras and mega pixels can you run on a M93p ?? thanks
 
lets say an ntel® Core™ i5-4570T Processor (2 cores / 4 threads, 2.9GHz, 4MB cache) is that the fastest for the m93p ?
 
The m93 tiny is available with up to an Intel Core i7-4765T which score around a 7200 on the benchmarks..the i5 4570T scores about a 4900...
There is no exact science to this, as the benchmarks dont tell the whole story and cameras vary....but just as an example, im running 12mp using direct to disk on a i5-3470 which benchmarks in between the two (6166) using direct to disk im at about 30 percent when its not recording...
Same system with 3 dahuas 1.3mp each and a vga camera...NOT using direct to disc on this one and i use about 19%...would be lower with direct to disk...
I7-4770 with 8 cameras 22mp total, direct to disc ..using about 22% at idle..
So with the i5 you could do about 16-18mp and keep it about 50-60 percent..thats a real rough estimate...

Just got my referb $300 m93p in this week, updated to Win 8.1 and added 5 Hikvision 2032's at 15fps and BItool weather overlays... running about 65% CPU, and up to 100% if all the cams fire off at the same time. Most likely get several more cams with direct to disk recordings.

So far, really a good deal at $300 each.

SSD and i5 performance is good

Cons
Didn't come with Wifi ($30 at amazon)
Display port instead of HDMI and no Cables
Have to update to Windows 8.1 (Free, but have to call lenovo to send out restore disk if you don't a USB install)

If you have a killawatt to connect and run the numbers that would be awesome.

My Killawatt shows the following for my m93P with 5 HK 2032 cams @ ~15fps each

100% CPU ~ 45 watts (recording to all 5 cams with BItools overlays and CPU fan kicks in)
50% CPU ~ 35-40 Watts (BI GUI up, no recording in progress)
35% CPU ~ 20-30 Watts (no BI GUI, no recording in progress)
1% CPU ~ 10-12 Watts (BI service stopped. windows 8.1 only running with chrome running)


Direct to disk didn't seem to make any difference that i could see, maybe it's the SSD only that im running...

Pre-trigger frame buffer size really hit the CPU hard... using a pre-trigger of 40 on my 5 cams shoots the CPU from 30% to 60% alone.


So without BI GUI running and no pre-triggers, i suspect I should be able to get 6-10 3mp cams without any issues. Adding a USB3 2TB disk soon, which may change the results some...

That is really low power consumption..
I find it strange that d2d didnt help much...but ive seen others report that as well...however when i have tested it, there is dramatic difference even though i always do 60 pretrigger framers for d2d recordings...
