Can I use camera sub stream for viewing

I have couple of HIKVISION DS-2CD2032-I installed. This camera has HD main stream and sub stream.

Can I use HD main stream with Direct to Drive for record and sub stream for viewing?

I am thinking this may reduce lot of computer load. Please advise. thanks

No not unless you setup duplicate cameras and hide the main stream. There are many better ways to reduce the load. See wiki
