Hello, I just purchased a Dahua IPC-T2431T-AS from Andy to test in hope of upgrading my analog home system. Camera is hooked up to a new Netgear POE switch which is connected to my home router. My home network uses 192.168.2.* IP addresses.

When I run the ConfigTool, i can see the new camera (192.168.1.108). i try to initialize camera, but ConfigTool gives me 'network error'. I have tried changing my PC IP to 192.168.1.39 (disconnecting my internet) with same result. I have read throught the Cliff notes (very helpful!) and still cant figure this out.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi! There are couple of roads to Rome, but yours isn't one of them ;-)
If you change your PC to 192.168.1.39, you need to plug your pc into the Netgear POE switch (why: your router does not understand/know what to do with 192.168.1.x traffic). Then you can use configtool to change 192.168.1.108 on the cam to (for example) 192.168.2.204. Then put your pc back into your home LAN (eg dhcp or 192.168.2.x).
Good luck!

If the config tool sees the cam it should work. Make sure you have selected the box for the cam. At what point is the tool giving you the error ? First thing it should ask you is to input your new password. It may ask you what format Pal or NTSC ( P or N ) I uncheck everything else. Or you can do what catcamstar posted :)
