Get the speaker in the house so you know someone is out in your property. Take your M16 and go out maybe shot a bullet or 2 to the ground and scare him off. These days people wants other people's property lawfully. straight to socialism.

Stay safe
Uh, bad idea. Don't shoot at people over "stuff".

After my tire slashing event, I am near the end of a project of adding a lamp post at the end of my 50' driveway that will hold two cameras: a 6mm 5442 at 6' height aimed directly at the only walk path to my house and since I've always wanted on.... a LPR :)
I ran 4 Cat6 cables (2 for IP cameras, 1 for Bosch outdoor PIR, 1 spare) and DC wire (all underground rated wires) to one location and 2 Cat6 to another location after digging some trenches. Will have 2 outdoor Bosch TriTech PIR's hooked to my DSC alarm system with Envysalink (spelling?) network card connected to my network, which will integrate to my Home Assistant home automation, which will turn on my bedroom smart tv as Source1 which I ran a 50' HDMI from Blue Iris machine to the smart tv upon motion triggered events from the PIR's or cameras.

IMO you need a system that detects intrusion in the vehicle itself and immediately fires an alarm in your bedroom. it's the only way you can catch him in the act. Of course, if you call 911 then they won't get there in time, and many in this situation would be so enraged that they would go down with a firearm and potentially do something that winds up leaving you in court. Guy in my area did that some years ago and the person breaking into his car came at him and ended up dead (shot). The homeowner defended himself successfully in court but it was still an unfortunate outcome for all involved.

Potentially if you called 911 you could then not even let the guy know the cops were called. They may get there and if he's still in area be able to find him as he's likely going through more cars.

Your pics are good. Another option you can do and something I would do out of spite personally (I've thought of it before), is I would set up a website specifically to catch this person and deposit flyers all around the area with his picture on them and a $1000 reward leading to information that results in a conviction.

This is cool but.....how would I prevent false triggers. I would need to setup some kind of AI face identification.
I do not have that one, but the Dahua active deterrence camera @EMPIRETECANDY sells, the Loryta IPC-T5241H-AS-PV has a white light and audible alarm and with the AI capabilities set for human only, I never have a false trigger. I have two of these - one on a front corner of the house and the other on the back corner on the opposite side. The only triggers have been people - cats, dogs, deer, etc. have not set it off.

It would still have false triggers. Bro coming home smashed late night etc.

Well that is a different kind of false trigger than what we refer to as a false trigger LOL, but I am sure you could come up with something to eliminate that false trigger or just let it scare the $#!t out of him lol.

You can adjust the volume and I assure you in the middle of the night, it doesn't need to be real loud for a perp to hear it unless you are on a busy street, in which case that noise would drown out the alarm anyway for your neighbors. You can also have it say something instead of an alarm, which then would be even less distracting to neighbors and fam. Mine says "You are under surveillance" and my neighbors do not hear it in their house and we do not in ours. The neighbor kid checking his car is locked on the street at all hours can be heard though lol.

False triggers are a major downside to driveway alarms. Ours are always triggering on deer and dogs here in the country. This AI cam sounds like what we need!

I already have the AI and notification setup. Just need a speaker now. Don't want to run wiring or add more expensive cameras.

That's actually a good picture. Were you home at the time? The one ring product I use (well two counting the doorbell) is the security system. I put a motion sensor from the kit in the car. It doesn't stop a break in but the push alert will wake me up while it's happening and that push alert comes in two seconds. People here have all kinds of measures as to how they'd deal with a guy they can run up on in the act. I shudder to think. I know I'd make sure the only way he'd continue his low life of crime is from a wheelchair, that's for sure. Ring is also coming out with an advanced car sensor kit too. One thing about the ring stuff, the push notifications are spot on fast and reliable.
I have the 2nd gen ring alarm system with the motion sensor in my vehicle as well. Can't beat it in my opinion. The motion sensors are so flexible and yo can have alexa do practically whatever you want once the motion is detected. All this for 100 dollars a year.
