Replacing 3 Logitech Alert cameras that are not meeting even basic needs for identifying cars involved with theft, much less plate numbers. Everything else about them is great. This is home use only but have read its junk on Amazon. Ill step over to cctv for the thread there, thanks for the lead.

Capturing plates is a science, there are a number of threads here on the topic...Buy an NVR from the same manufacturer as you cams or use pc nvr software...dont go cheap on the NVR..
The resale on the logitechs is high so you should be able to buy a decent nvr..

It sure sounds like a science/art where the camera needs to mute the headlight/tail light glare while just the amount of IR is pointed at the plate in the evening. Im not looking for LPR software. I am willing to go back to the video and manually check it for the small amount of traffic we deal with and from what Im seeing, the newer high res cameras, at the correct frame rate make daytime capture cake... if you have the vantage point. This is a neighborhood looking for a real deterrent and information source after thefts have occurred and we don't have commercial budgets so I feel a painful trail and error period here. Thanks for the help! Many advertised in the 200-220 range
