Hi folks,

Buying a used PC for Blue Iris, probably max around 10 cameras. Maybe some auto LPR in the future, but nothing too hairy.

In the $200-300 range there are 8Gb systems with i7-4770 or newer ones i5-6400 to choose from. Would either have an advantage?

Excellent point. Thanks. That probably tips my scales in favor of the i5.

For anyone interested, after a lot of hemming and hawing, I ordered this system:
HP ProDesk 600 G2 SFF Gen6 i5-6500 3.20Ghz 8Gb RAM 256Gb SSD Windows 10 Pro K1 | eBay

So, I went with an i5-6500 which was just a bit more than similar 6400 based systems. I liked that this unit already had a SSD for the OS installed, and thus has the ssd mounts, and comes with a keyboard and mouse. I just used up my extra keyboard on another project so good to get this one all set to go.

I also got an Intel NIC with low profile mount to go in one of the PCIe slots. Meanwhile bought a new router (Asus AC86U) to getgot OpenVPn set up.

I've got some fun times ahead. Thanks for the help.
