Chrome ending 3rd Party cookies

I just noticed this today on Edge:

So it look like MS Edge is already doing this?

Am I missing something here? But doesn't Google rely on cookies to sell advertising so isn't this cutting your nose of to spit your face (kind of) confused.com :idk:

First party cookies are still allowed, ie between a specific website and you.

Third party cookies are when say FB puts a FB cookie on your machine when you visit another website. Its a key advertising technology and its what tracks you

BTW everytime you use a common login widget, like "Login using Google" you're making it easier for them. You're specifically allowing them to now track you, defeating the whole 3rd party cookie ban

That article leaves out a few important things:

1. Google is killing third party cookies and replacing them with a different system of tracking users: Google gets its way, bakes a user-tracking ad platform directly into Chrome
2. They are also killing adblockers in chrome as of 6/2024. Google Chrome will limit ad blockers starting June 2024

I think Google is seriously overestimating users loyalty to a web browser that's best known as a giant memory hog. I plan to shift most of my browsing to Firefox or one of the chrome forks. It's probably a good thing for the internet if their browser market share drops.

I'm glad I finally made the switch to Firefox.
Although Firefox for Android is slow.. which is a shame to easily share bookmarks and history between desktop/mobile.

But I thought UI3 was designed for Google Chrome? What do folks use for UI3?
