Hi, I’ll start with, I’m not an expert but generally can figure it out. Not this issue though. Looking for your expertise! You guys are the best for finding solutions! Thanks in advance.

i would like to access the Poe camera gui remotely through the nvr gui. Can this be done? when I login to the nvr gui locally I can access the camera gui no problem, it’s remotely i would like to access as well.
I can access the nvr remotely no problem and can see the link to the camera but the link is a local address http://192…… (if virtual host button is not enabled, this link will not show, but you probably knew that already, I didn’t till I came here for advice :) )

Suggestions please. Detailed if you can… thanks

Unless you're using a VPN on the network for the NVR, no in my experience

If you use P2P or Port forwarding, you can reach the NVR, but the NVR sees you as an external IP and wont allow you to access the camera GUI directly if they're attached to the internal 10.1.1.x switch

In the router you could probably forward the NVR's external HTTP port to the NVR's LAN IP but that would be VERY risky and is strictly not advised.

As stated above by others a VPN would be the recommended solution.

Port forwarding still won’t allow access of the camera GUI. You can get into the NVR but not the cams if they’re using the NVR PoE ports - nice added security feature of NVRs

No, You can do it.. :)

Simply copy the 'Internet explorer' link from NVR camera list to specified camera - it contains address like 'http : / / ip.ad.re.ss : port/' and then create on router port redirection to this ip.ad.re.ss and port number from that link..

This redirection will target Your camera even it's ip.ad.re.ss is NVR one - specific port number will be redirected second time by NVR to your camera on internet POE switch network..

To have external access to each cam web panel You must create router port redirection to each camera (using specific port number from Internet Explorer link) and remember on which external router port's You mapped each camera...

The whole thing is a bit of a mess. And certainly not very safe in terms of security. Every camera (and NVR) will be easily accessible from the Internet and easily detectable by any IP scanner.

But physically, such a configuration is doable in its entirety ;)

PS. However, instead of port forwarding on the router, I recommend any VPN solution. Today, every mid-range or high-end router offers a VPN server solution.

As i mentioned, i have the router forwarding me to the nvr, there i can access the nvr, but not the camera gui with the virtual link in the nvr gui as i show in the screen shot.. thanks

right, this is exactly my situation.. so, i would have to setup this "path" differently then to access both remotely? thanks

Thank you, i'll have to learn more of this...
I'll have to check the router if this is doable as it is from the internet supplier/service, Actiontec T3200m model, not sure what they have on it for features. There is no PC in this setup btw. straight up camera --> nvr via poe --> nvr to router --> router -->internet/outside world

I may just leave it as is as it took me awhile to just get this far, lol

LOL, yep, I suppose it IS possible, but as you say very messy. I’ll stick to VPN

I just noticed you're using an HiK NVR? I'm not familiar with them...

But on a Dahua NVR there is another way..

Simply turn your NVR into a normal network switch by using the Bridge Mode
By enabling Bridge Mode, you would make the Switch adopt your normal LAN IP settings and of course you would need to change the IP of each camera to a LAN IP
