Connecting to camera using VPN ?

When I look in the camera NAT setting, I can see Internal port 8000 and External port 8006 - is that setting ok ?

I try to reach my cam at port 8000 from the outside, not port 8006

I'm about to give up.

My OpenVPN connection works just fine, I'm pretty sure.

When I'm far away from home, and I logon my OpenVPN connection I get my home wan IP. I can log on my router with 10.0.0.1 and I can log on my FTP server with 10.0.0.1. But when I try to logon my camera at 10.0.0.100 there is no connection.

your camera at 10.0.0.100, you manually configure that as a static IP?

Does it have the proper gateway and subnet configured? should be 10.0.0.1/255.255.255.0

if those are not right it could cause this problem.

10.0.0.1 is your router, can you ping any device on your network OTHER than your router?

Yes, I have changed my two cameras IP to a static IP 10.0.0.100 and 10.0.0.101

My router IP is 10.0.0.1/255.255.255.0

My OpenVPN is 10.1.0.0/255.255.255.0

When I'm on my wifi I can ping every device on my network.

When I'm on my OpenVPN I can only ping 10.0.0.1, but not my cameras or any other device on my network. But how can this be ?

then your router is blocking your LAN access, need need to allow it.. some routers have a security setting for lan access, or isolation or something you need to check.. or you might have a firewall rule on the router that could prevent the traffic.

After changing the interface type to "TAP", you need to generate another client file and replace the old client file with this new one.

It must be something about that I think. I'll have to take a look again at my router.

Sorry for my late answer, but I think I got it to work now.

I did change the setting from TUN to TAP, and when I log on the OpenVPN connection using my Mac Book laptop, it works just fine. I get access to my cameras :)

But when I try to import the ovpn file to my OnePlus2 phone (Android) I get the message "TAP-based tunnels are not supported : OSI layer 2 tunnels are not currently supported".

---- UPDATE ----

The app I used on my phone only supported TUN. I had to find a new app that supports TAP, and now it works on both my Mac Book and my phone :)
