Connects, but slow slow to display cams, wan or lan

Seems the last couple months, not sure how long in relation to updates, Blue Iris Android, has been very slow to bring cams up once it connects or maneuver between them. And sometimes, it's also slow to connect. Doesn't seem to matter whether it is WAN, or WiFI LAN. Used to be very quick. But this gets maddeningly slow when some speed is needed.

I am running it on port 8949 due to VPN-DYNDNS crowding, but that never seemed to be an issue previously. Not to say something hasn't changed.

Thoughts?

I use AirVPN. They have many servers I can connect to.

So.. Yhey have a DYNDNS type of service, where you use a "yourname.airdns.org" that follows you regardless of what server of theirs you are connected to, in order to maintain a sort of virtual static IP. I realize blue iris pings as well and keeps a tab on your IP as well. Works quite well. I always hit my server.

And.. They allow you to do a remote port forward thing to reliably access your server, and since many people use their service, port 80 is always taken. So, I have to use a higher port like 8949 to reliably get access to Blue Iris. Has always worked well in the past for me.

EDIT:I (generally) access the server quickly and connect, but the issue the app is very slow getting cameras up, and moving around cameras within the app.


Using a TP-Link Archer C9 1900ac Router with DD-WRT, this may have this, not sure.

why are you using a paid vpn service like that? it provides no security...
 
Mostly to cloak my browsing. DYNDNS was 40 a year, and AirVPN was 50. Roughly does the same and has teh VPN. I realize that the way it is setup security is not there.

Although I REALLY neeed to get up to speed with secure VPN, I'm not fully understanding the techniques of it all yet. I'm sure it's simple, but I'm not quite getting it. This is largely a hobby, and I have a huge of stuff on my plate ahead of this. Matter of finding time I guess :(

Dyndns does nothing to cloak your browsing....with airvpn you simply traded your isp for some unknown entity...why pay for that...
 
Obviously, DYNDNS does nothing to cloak browsing. I was using it in the past to get back to my cameras before I started running Blue iris server, just kept using it.

As I said, the paid VPN cloaks my browsing.... from my ISP. And was under the impression that using that while accessing the net on public WiFi, it would offer some semblance of security.
