The Hikvision NVR looks identical to the Swann and to me the best part is if something comes in broken, no shipping back to China. My buddy just got a Hiksvision that was DOA. $50 to ship back to China!

Plus 90 day Costco warranty.

Build it $655, buy it $800 with a no question asked return policy.
 
The costco one is a good deal for the reasons you mention...its about how much you want to risk...fyi the costco return policy is not limited to their 90 days which is specific to certain electronics....you can bring these bad boys back at anytime you wish..also swann offers a 3 year warranty for the units sold through costco...there is a link on the product page http://www.costco.com/wcsstore/Cost...hment/SwannWarrantyPolicy-Costco-36months.pdf
 
FYI SALE ENDS TODAY, so if you are considering it, order it..worst case just return it.
 
Funny, today no sale but it is only $799! Seems like they were playing with the numbers.
