I have a PC I built it in 2011 running the latest flavor of BI with CPU usage consistently 90-100%. I have not been successful in getting this to go down anywhere near what I see others getting (60%) with many more cameras.

The PC includes:

MSI H67MA-E35 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel H67 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core i5-2500 Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500
SAMSUNG 840 EVO MZ-7TE120BW 2.5" 120GB SATA III TLC Internal SSD (on which Windows 7 Pro 64b runs)
Western Digital Caviar Green 1.5TB 64MB SATA 3G 3.5-in. HDD, model WD15EARS-00J2GB0 (for storing recorded camera video)
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB 7200RPM SATA 3GB/s 32 MB Cache 3.5-in. HDD ST31000528AS (for storing recorded camera video)

My cameras are:

Hikvision outdoor HD 3MP f:4mm IP dome camera, model DS-2CD2132-I
Hikvision outdoor HD 3MP f:4mm IP dome camera, model DS-2CD2132-I
Hikvision outdoor HD 3MP f:4mm IP dome camera, model DS-2CD2132-I
Hikvision outdoor HD 3MP f:4mm IP dome camera, model DS-2CD2132F-IS
Foscam wireless IP camera, model FI8904W
Foscam wireless IP camera, model FI8918W
Foscam wireless IP camera, model FI8910W
TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-camera (2.8-12mm)
TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-camera (pinhole)
Logitech C110 webcam (connected to BI via Yawcam)

I have set the the Hik cams at 15fps and their corresponding video settings in BI also at 15fps. The Foscams do not seem to allow for any "fps" settings and the TOP-201 cameras should be at their default settings.

I'm sure I have left out some key settings data but am unsure what that may be. Any comments/critiques would be welcome. Many thanks!

Yes (apologies, I had meant to include that). All Hik cams record MP4 D2D (when triggered) while two Foscams record MP4 re-encoded (when triggered)

Are you running the demo version?
How much memory does the system have?
Also, try recording only to the 7200rpm drive and see if there is any improvement.

Are you remoting into the system or is there a monitor attached?

Headless (no monitor, keyboard or mouse). I connect remotely by VNC (when home on my LAN), LogMeIn Pro from outside my LAN, or the BI Android app.

Check the cpu from the mobile app with nothing else logged in.

CPU 91% per Android app ... Full disclosure, I seem to have a real knack for discovering obscure/unusual issues. :) If I worked in a mine, they'd make me the "canary". LOL

To be clear, when you tested, you were not logged in remotely using any of the other services? have you excluded BI from antivirus?
I would start by disabling the usb cam/ycam first then the top cameras and see if you notice any significant improvement.

Correct, the Android app was the only remote access active. "excluded BI from antivirus"? I am running AVG Anti-Virus (free version) on that PC but have not excluded any program. (I have not tried that and wonder if it is possible with the free version.) As for selectively disabling cameras to look for improvement, what is the best way to do that? For example, remove power, disconnect its LAN connection (only one Foscam connects over WiFi, all others connect via Ethernet, or Yawcam in the case of the webcam).

just disable the camera in blue iris..if yawcam requires something to be running on the bi machine disable that as well.
There are instructions in the networking section of the help file on excluding blue iris from your antivirus.

BI.exe and BIT.exe are already excluded in AVG (I do not recall doing this so it must have been done by the programs when I installed them.) I will start experimenting with the cameras and report back.
