Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset

Just tested with another camera, same model, same behavior. It looks like you have to send the activation twice...

@costib

Please try version 1.6. In this one, you should only use one camera instance (delete the extra one you made for version 1.5), and enter both profile numbers in the box (I guess that would be "1,2"). It will send the profile change commands 5 seconds apart and hopefully the camera will accept them reliably this way.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong (IPC-HDW5231R-ZE with firmware 2.8...10.0.R from Andy).
First one is from the service, second when I try to fetch the zoom and focus values.

Can I get some help with my night time settings? I'm having issues getting anything to work when shutter is at 1/1000 or 1/2000. Settings attached, I've tried a few different variations. I get picture at 1/250 but just black with 1/1000 or 1/2000. Picture attached is a cars headlights driving by. Does this camera have a mechanical issue or am I missing something? THANKS!!

Those high shutter speeds will never work at night. If you don't want to use Auto shutter setting, I would try 1/30 or 1/60 at night with IR turned on.

Really? to capture moving vehicle plates?

I run 5 of the same camera at 1/1000 - 1/2000 and it works just fine... ....................................Do tell...

For night capturing plates, yes. I assumed he wanted a good night image. He stated he wasn't getting any picture.

Gotcha

Yeah a lot of folks who don’t know ( I was there once) dial in a pretty static night picture and don’t understand that with movement it’ll blur and be useless .

I would like <Simulate Sunrise> and <Simulate Sunset> buttons added to the window for configuring individual cameras. This would allow testing of a single camera without affecting the other cameras. Is this easy to do? Anyone else want this?

Thanks for the tool! Easy to use and works as expected.

My Dahuas switch to night mode once IR kicks in automatically, but that doesn’t work with the two cameras that I force color at night with. This is better than using Dahua’s built-in day/night schedule as it adjusts based on changes in sunset/sunrise time every day. I thought I could do the same thing with BI’s event scheduling but I don’t see this command in the drop down list. Thanks!

Indeed, it would be useful.

+1

Good golly mis Molly. Noticed the service wasn't working any more, and to my amazement, the error log was 54GB. Deleted without even looking. Oops. Jumped to V1.6.0.0 and I can't connect to any camera (HDW2231RP's, HDW5231R's, or SD1A203T-GN)? I'm consistantly getting "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found." Post 246-247 suggest factory reset. What am I missing? Am I looking at factory reset for all my cameras maybe? I've set this up before without issue. Camera firmware isn't "old", but maybe not the newest (been stable). Any suggestions?

UPDATE: Factory resets no worky. What settings in the camera(s) prevent the tool from communicating?

@bp2008 thanks for posting this, I can now control my camera via .py. I saw a similar objective mentioned in a few places, but can't see where anyone successfully implemented it: do you or anyone know how to obtain whatever it is the camera uses to calculate the ambient brightness for an ambient conditions triggered changeover? I'd prefer to control for cloudy weather. I read through the documentation and can see what appears to be an adjustment for the camera's sensitivity, but can't see where to get the variable it's sensitive to. An allternative is I could let the camera automatically changeover and check every 30s or so as to whether it's in day or night mode... but so far, I don't like the brightnesses the camera demands to make a change from day to night mode.
