I just picked up a IPC-HDW5231R-Z, and am worried that it is DOA. I have tried both power supply and POE and get nothing from the camera, no light, no movement, and can't ping or find the camera using the config tool. This is my first Dahua camers - am I missing something?

If it’s is a DOA, then send it back... describe your problem with it and ask a new one.

Highly unlikely.... Post more info on power supply and Poe...there will never be movement...it's a fixed camera

Ok, I can see it is getting power, but I can't seem to find the camera using the config tool. It looks similar to the issue ajax0117 posted about on Jan 18, but I could not find a resolution. I did try resetting the camera, and that hasn't helped.

Is the computer that you're using on the 192.168.1.xxx subnet? If not, change the IP to something on there and see if you can ping 192.168.1.108, which is the default IP for most Dahua things.

Strange. Ipconfig shows the camera with an ip address of 169.254.101.95 and subnet 255.255.0.0. I can ping it but it refuses a browser connection. The config tool still will not recognize it.

What is your router's IP address

Router is 192.168.2.1, but.... I have the camera connected directly to a computer. I even tried unplugging the computer from the router, restarting, and going to the ethernet setup and changing the ip and subnet on the computer to match what ipconfig was showing for the camera. Still no luck connecting via browser or the config tool. I can ping the camera though.
