Hi, not sure how you send the commands but I'm using Curl commands to control my ptz.

Example from my docker, curl is also available for ESP.

Just updatesd my post with an example, hope this helps! But this is of course only applicable for a ptz. I'm on my mobile now so hard to give another example.

when I use in Postman digest authentification I get an answer yes.... but not sure if I can use this kind of authentication with ESP32

you use digest authentication, maybe that is my problem? I use basic authentication....

It was long time ago I set up the commands and I don't remember why I chose digest, maybe it worked best.
Anyway, it works

Are you using espeasy or arduino IDE?

but postman is just to test, my goal is to use cheap ESP32 alarm that can enable disable the recording and/or motion when switched on.

Will check if ESP32 can do this kind of authentication, it looks much more difficult than the basic one.

It sounds like basic authentication is possible, but when I try it I get always 401 Unauthorized.

I tried something like this

change to Base64 with Base64 Encode and Decode - Online which gives YWRtaW46RGFoRGFoQDk4

Then I use

http://192.168.0.108:50000/cgi-bin/encode.cgi?action=getCaps

plus the header : Authorization Basic YWRtaW46RGFoRGFoQDk4 => and get as result 401 unauthorized, but when I use Digest it works

What could be wrong?

What is your device model & firmare version?
If it new you must enable auth & cgi

it is not so new, few years old already

You have old ipc & must work old HTTP API.
Try to find the same or similar & check.

No I am not using dahua python sdk. I just want to fetch the dahua camera data through API in Python3.

The API i have it, but can't share to the end users based on dahua policy, i can share to some members here who help a lot to the IPCT.
