Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

Corellon you're THE MAN!!! Kudos to you :)

I tried the older firmware a lot earlier in the process but it didn't yield any results. This time I guess I had all my commands correct and as of right now the camera is displaying the Dahua Gui. Now before I upgrade to V2.8 through the gui I was thinking I'd reset the camera to factory settings first.

For the record I went from Amcrest V2.623.00AC004.0.R firmware to Dahua's DH_SD-Mao-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_IVS_V2.623.0000000.7.R.181124 firmware with the tftp method using the following commands below.

Your welcome Gabe, if you haven't make sure to do a FULL factory reset (including network) as at least with the lorex there are remainders of the lorex config still left in the camera, I tried just a reset (keeping network information) and found it still caused issues later on. Enjoy and see how it works (I also assume that on your last post you mean you went to 2.800 using the camera's GUI)

After flashing to Dahua's V2.6 I did the Full factory reset, then after going to V2.8 the Amcrest model number remains. I read on a different thread an account of someone who also had converted an Amcrest PTZ had the same issue after upgrading. As long as this is the only relic left from the Amcrest firmware I can easily live with that. I'll post sometime in the near future about my experience with the new firmware.

I have that same camera, so I'm wondering if there are any major benefits. Can you confirm if the plug-in is still required?
 
The biggest benefit for me is having IVS events. IVS is much better at eliminating false alarms with motion detection. It's not perfect but in my opinion it's much, much better than standard motion detection. The Amcrest firmware is crippled and that's a shame because IVS is a really effective feature to have. I've also heard that Dahua's firmware releases are more consistent than Amcrest releases. The last benefit for me is having a 100% Dahua security system. I already have 5 other Dahua cams and an NVR, so mixing in an Amcrest is not cool for me. :cool:

The plug-in is no longer necessary with this firmware, the live view from the GUI is viewable in Chrome, Edge, Firefox...etc.

For me and the lorex's it was the fact that ONVIF was broken in the lorex firmware, IVS was neutered, plugins were a hassle and it did not have day/night profile support. There were a few image quality issues but I think I got those resolved now and over all it is much more stable and workable

Here's my findings so far with the new firmware (DH_SD-Mao-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_IVS_Market_V2.800.0000000.4.R.191105) -

My converted Amcrest PTZ is working fine so far with one minor hiccup. I can't pinpoint exactly when it began but after a scheduled reboot the cam started producing a delay when executing PTZ commands. I don't know what to make of this but after a reboot everything was back to normal. Right now I'm chalking it up to a random occurrence because it hasn't repeated this problem since the reboot. I can't say this wouldn't have happened with the original Amcrest firmware because I've had other cams exhibit random behavior at times also. If this problem persists I'll follow up but even after this minor annoyance I'm still happy that I converted my Amcrest cam to a Dahua.

5/23/2020 FOLLOWUP (18 DAYS AFTER CONVERSION) - happy to report no issues at all with the new firmware. PTZ delay has not resurfaced and cam is running like new.

Just though I would post in here, with regards to some unbricking issues I had throughout the day.

Not too sure where I went wrong with the "Easy" TFTP process earlier, but I have gotten things going and the camera livened back up. This is on an HBDW-4421E-AS done camera. think one of the initial problems I had today were caused by some gaps/issues with networking and the command.txt file I had.

I ended up using the modded firmware from this site, after originally trying the firmware from Dahua's site to no avail.

One ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL GAP I noticed was when running the commands.bat per the TFTP tutorial:

I would get an error message on the "tftp 0x82000000 pd-x.squashfs.img; flwrite". Digging through other posts on the forum, and the logs returned through console.bat, I noticed that the "82000000" was not where all of the files were getting loaded to when using the 'run' command. My "address" was 02000000, and when I changed the commands.txt and re-ran commands.bat, that put me into business.

Another note for those needing/looking for help:

  1. See also Info about run commands within this thread. Read that bit CLOSELY. From what I can tell, you need to follow that order, based on the files you have in your firmware bin, and match the commands.txt to that.
  2. You may also find it handy to start the process with a command.txt with something along the lines of:
help​
printenv​
ls​
Tweak that command file if you need it, to pull out additional information from the Bootlogger based on commands from the help output you will see in Console.​
 
Hi I have the Dahau SD1A203T-GN I need help I'm stuck on a loop.
The camera stop working a month ago and I only notice this past weekend. I figure I could flash the firmware. I tried DH_SD-Mao-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_IVS_Market_V2.800.0000000.4.R.191105 with no luck.

Hi, I have problems with my VTO2000A-C. I flashed the firmware with the configtools, but after the restart it still restarts.
I try to flash via UART and TFTP, but every command: run dr, dk ... still writes Data CRC Checking ... ERROR.

So, you can try use loady command with Hyperterminal send files via YModem protocol & then flwrite
