I see Dahua have just released the new Ai Tioc Camera's , these look very interesting especially with the 2MP, 1/2.8” CMOS image sensor paired with a F1.0 lens.

@ljw2k - I bet Oprema will just love the fact you’ve advertised their trade price on the open net!

Other resellers/distributors are even cheaper ;)

And aren’t they all 5MP?

Hi Walter I didn't see the Oprema price and thanks for pointing this out and now removed that part. Can you let me know what other sellers/distributors sell it cheaper. PM me if you don't want to publish here.

Pricing is confidential between integrators and distributors. I’d get dumped real quick if I started talking money. I think every distributor has ‘special’ pricing depending on volumes and promotions from Dahua UK.

Don't worry I don't need your links I have a quite a few trade accounts in UK with some of the largest Dahua Suppliers and I would pass my discount onto anyone here on IPCAMTALK forum if they asked me nice :) and can't make sense of your " Can Get Cheaper " comment.

I'm also sure Oprema would love me to sell 100 camera's a week for them no matter what I charged or where I sold them.

I don't make a single penny from these forums and helped many members with either camera problems and buying CCTV Equipment at trade price and my profit is to help someone else which to me is more enjoyable.

I make my living selling & installing cameras so by all means give it away if you like. Just be aware that it’s already bad enough having to justify why a camera costs what it does vs Swann or Reolink without folks with apparently non-trade ‘trade’ accounts selling off cameras at trade prices.

And if you just want them cheap the @EmpiretechAndy undercuts ALL official UK channels by quite some margin.

I doubt if 1% of your customers/clients read these forums so I personally don't need to be aware or justify anything to anyone about anything.

I would NEVER buy anything from @EMPIRETECANDY bad experiences in the past between me and him and it's well documented in various threads in the past. He is NOT cheaper neither to what I pay and I get a 3 year UK warranty with a next day exchange which is worth everything to me but if your happy to buy from Chine/Hong Kong please carry on.

What I will say is please don't reply as I want my thread to get on topic but thanks for your input.

You are on the wrong forum. This forum is specifically designed for end users who want to avoid ripoff artists like you. If you want to charge for your labor be upfront about it. If you want to charge for labor AND make a profit on the camera, BE UPFRONT about it. You and others like you are the reason this forum is so popular.

Wow! If Dahua wanted to sell direct to personal customers, they would.

They don’t.

If there are no integrators then there are no distributors. Because whether you like it or not, most people can’t or don’t want to install their own CCTV.

Whether people read these forums actively is irrelevant, they’re indexed by search engines and if you search, you find.

By all means, put all the integrators out of business and then you’ll find that there is no UK support because there is no business.

We understand that they dont want to. To bad, we can get them and there is not a god damn thing you can do about it. You and your ilk have tried.
On the one hand you claim that most people dont want to install their own cameras, on the other hand you fear that we will put you out of business. Which one is it?
Perhaps you will have to charge reasonable rates for your monkey work. Its not rocket science. I love how afraid you are that folks will learn how much you overcharge for parts and seek to either do it themselves or pay someone to run the cable and buy the cams themselves. That is exactly our goal. They dont need your white glove service. They can build a better system, learn how to maintain it, for a fraction of your inflated prices.
Dont worry mate, this forum has been around since 2014, you have not lost your business yet. You will be fine. There will always be plenty of suckers.

Hi, I don‘t know what you do for a living but I don’t appreciate being called a rip-off artist. I operate a business and I make a profit. I’m not going to apologise for that. On Thursday of last week I was asked to go and quote for a CCTV install repair because it had stopped working. I was asked to QUOTE. When I got there the homeowner had bought a Hikvision system from a handyman who bought the bits somewhere and installed them. I’m sure they gave the homeowner a great deal. But zero after-sales support.

I asked the homeowner why they had not called the handyman who fitted the cameras when two of them went wrong and he said he had, but that the handyman had told him to phone a Hikvision reseller who would process the warranty claim. He didn’t want a quote. He wanted me to process a warranty claim. Now, as it happens, what the handyman told the homeowner isn’t correct (on so many levels) and I would have told him that on the phone if he was straight with me about why he called. But I was there. And the guy’s cameras weren’t working. So I called my distributor and organised two replacement cameras from my van stock at cost (not free, because the cameras were not UK supplied, so we couldn’t process a warranty claim If we wanted to) and I fitted them for free because I was there anyway and I had the ladders off the van to check out the defective cameras. I also sorted out the phone app that had never worked and did a bit of tweaking so the colour night vision worked better. That’s called customer service, and I can only afford to do it if I make a profit.

As well as profit margin on cameras and labour, would you also like me show the cost of customer service? Of processing warranty claims? Of quoting for work I don‘t win the business on? Of buying and running vans? Of paying for equipment, workwear and tools? For having staff off for training? For paying staff when they’re on holiday? For paying National Insurance and Pension costs for staff? For the cost of actually having insurance for my customers and staff if, god forbid, anything happens while we’re on site somewhere? It’s not just labour and cameras that cost money.

Personally, I think the less-than-straightforward homeowner and handyman selling grey-import cameras and walking away from the customer afterwards are far more likely to qualify for the title Rip-off Artist than me. And when I go out of business I’m sure you’ll still think ‘good riddance’.

I dont care if you dont appreciate it. You are a ripoff artist. When you lie to your customer and fail to disclose that you are making a profit on the camera you are engaging in deception and fraud. If you were not doing this, you would not have your panties in a bunch living in fear that your customers will learn your actual cost of goods.
I dont care for your sob story about helping someone for free. We all do that in every profession. So what? What you should have told that liar is to go fuck himself. You were just trying to earn future business.
You are entitled to make a profit, but an honest profit. Charge for your LABOR. In that labor cost you include all your overhead. This same bullshit goes on in many other industries, auto repair etc.
This forum is not advocating a handyman trunkslammer job. We advocate DIY so we dont have to rely on any of you. That is the ultimate solution.
Many installers such as yourself are incompetent. For example, you claim you sorted his mobile app. We both know that the only way he is viewing his cameras remotely is because a port is forwarded or using hik p2p BOTH not secure.
Take some time to read the wiki on securing your network. Perhaps you can use some of that knowledge to keep your customers secure.
This is why a forum like this is so important. We dont want or need you.

I doubt that any new 8mp model is going to overtake 2mp/4mp Starlight+ cameras anytime soon and even if they do, they will exceed the budget of most members (including myself) here on the forum.
edit: theoretically, the only way to get 8mp Starlight+ cameras at mainstream prices is for everyone to literally stop buying 2mp and 4mp Starlight+ models. This will force the manufacturer to move up. Same can be said about Intel's current position.

I am waiting on the release of the 8mp in a few weeks.
