I currently have 2 4TB in my DHI-NVR5216-16P-4KS2 and just dont have the retention time I would like 10 cameras gives me about 14days.

I have used Sata Port Multipliers in the past on computers with some good luck

was wondering if anyone has tried any with Dahua NVR's with any luck as I know they can be a bit picky

Why not reduce fps for the cameras?

could but might miss that one or 2 frames that could have been a great ID pic too....
This should be easy but Dahua tech support was of no help :(

Sounds like you just have to get bigger HDDs...

this maybe worth looking at:
WD 8TB HDD on Sale at Best Buy

Thinking that taking the HDD out of the shell and replacing one of the 4TB internals.

If you do have one SATA port multiplier handy, feel free to try and report back! :D

But I doubt it will work at all. That NVR supports HDDs up to 8Tb, so I would just change them.
