Dahua nvr

So I had this dahua nvr for couple years working rock solid.3 days ago I noticed when I go to check footage from HDD it just shows 0 secs of recorded footage.itll bring up the footage but nothing is being recorded.this mean the HDD has died? Or dahua nvrs recording feature went dead? The cams from nvr still display.how can I check which is the problem?

Does the (unspecified) NVR have the ability to show the SMART data for the HDD?
If so - check the attributes that would show if there is any hardware problem with the device.

I have the dhi-nvr210 model.im not seeing it has smart feature.is it possible to put the HDD in the computer to test?

I just tried to format the HDD and it says failed to format.it shows the HDD listed in the dmss software on macbook
