Dahua time sync issue

Hello all, I have an issue with time sync on my Dahua equipment. I have 9x IP cameras connected to a NVR. Occasionally, one or two of the cameras will report a time that's one hour behind the correct time. This causes incorrect timestamp on the recorded media, and wreaks havoc with NVR playback. The issue will then correct itself within 24 hours, presumably when the NVR time sync is pushed down to the cameras. Here are the system details:

-DHI-NVR4216-I running FW 4.000.0000000.1
-(7) IPC-T5442TM-ASE running FW 2.800.0000000.10.R
-(1) IPC-B54412-ZE running FW 2.800.0000000.10.R

I am in the US EDT timezone and would like to use NTP as the master clock source. Where am I going wrong here?
 
A simple test is to change your IPC sync time form 24hrs to something more frequent - ping every hour.

A lot of users have good experience using NetTime to sync cams & nvrs, check thread:

This is a great way to sync all your cameras. If cameras are not synced correctly they could be thrown out as evidence. This will not adjust for Daylight Savings - you must enter DST Start and End time in your Camera. I want to thank @mikeynags for all the information to get this up and running...

I have a 2231 that likes to offset itself an hour. I finally sad "you win" and changed its time zone.
 
Yep I have done the change time zone option too. Maybe try enabling DST in the Dahue camera itself?
 
It does have DST enabled.
 
Oh gotcha, I meant my own cam. It'll comply for a while, then offset itself by an hour.

I have 4 of the same cam - and one of them needs to be on a time zone 4 hours different than the others to all keep the same time LOL.
 
Are your Dahua Chinese hack cameras ? I have had problems with Chinese cameras, but not international Dahua cameras for daylight savings and time servers.

What are the model number and software version numbers
 
I bought mine from Andy. I offset it from Pacific Time (UTC -8:00) to Mountain Time to keep the timestamp correct.

I am not an NVR expert.
If the cameras are on the POE switch of the NVR how are they accessing the NTP server. If the cameras are using a internet time server, then they can be accessed by the internet and have access to the internet. Not a good idea

Also I would recommend a NTP time interval of 15 minutes+ Not 1 minute

Also if possible set up a local NTP server on your network to provide time to all your devices. NetTime - Network Time Synchronization Tool


an unimportant side note clock.isc.org is no longer valid. It may work because the service is provided by another NTP server
 
I had the problem until I changed everything to GMT time. No daylight savings time or anything else to miss with, no problems.
I had worked with a system that ran on GMT (Greenwich mean time) so not a problem for me, then BlueIris adds the local time stamp.

OK, there is something I am not understanding. Doesn't the NVR supply the time information to the attached cameras?? The picture named NVR DST Settings are the time settings in my NVR5216-16p-4KS2. The other one is the time settings from one of the cameras attached to the NVR's PoE ports and viewed using the browser interface on the NVR. The time shown on the NVR will be the same time that the camera will show for all of the cameras.

I am having the same problem as the poster. A few hours ago, I had to manually update the time on the NVR because it was an hour behind. When I changed the time on the NVR, it also corrected the time on all of the cameras. I have had to do this before, but at some point it will go back to being an hour off. It might take a few hours, a few days, or a few weeks, but it will be off again. It does not coincide with the time change when daylight savings time really happens.

The third image, NVR Info, shows my hardware/firmware configuration. The hardware has remained fixed except for adding a camera or two or three, but this is the third iteration of firmware upgrades and as you can see, it includes the latest version. I sure do wish someone had a good resolution for this, and Blue Iris is not a resolution.

A problem for getting time from an NTP server can also be DNS in network settings.
My NVR had the default correct but other devices like my NAS reverted to a default DNS that did not work.
