Dahua VTO2111D-P-S2 ring issue

Hi, the problem is that you added the VTO using IP. Instead, you should use P2P, you can do that by adding the VTO with the scan QR option in DMSS. Hope this helps.

Bringing to the top. Wondering if anyone found a reliable way to get CALLS from a Dahua VTO Doorbell on the DMSS app? This doorbell is totally useless to me if I can't get CALLS from the doorbell to automatically pop up on my phone so I can answer them and talk to someone. I have the VTO added to the DMSS app on (4) different devices. Receiving calls automatically works on 1 of 4 devices only. The other 3, MUST have the DMSS app open in order for the CALL pop up to be received, I hate this thing so much.

Device #1 (iPad Mini) - Receives calls automatically
Device #2 (iPad Mini) - Does not receive calls unless the App is open
Device #3 (Android phone, S20) - Does not receive calls unless the App is open (did work once upon a time however)
Device #4 (Android phone, S22) - Does not receive calls unless the App is open

Ready to chuck this Dahua doorbell in the garbage. I have spent hours uninstalling, reinstalling, trying various permissions, etc. Tired of buggy crap. /rant

(I either have a VTO2202F-F-S2 or a VTO2202F-P .

Also looking for a resolution to this, when i test on an iPhone it rings properly, but on both my wife's Samsung s21 and my Samsung s22 ultra, it's just a silent banner the same as a CCTV motion detection.

Dahua aren't providing any support, the company I bought it from are just saying "oh it's a problem with your phone".

As it stands the doorbell is completely useless.

Mine is VTO2311R but it's the same issue completely.

i don't have any issues with any other apps ringing, ie whatsapp, or ring for my parent's doorbell, it's only DMSS that doesn't ring. I have spent hours re-installing, looking for every possible setting etc. it has every permission i can give it.

Having similar issues with my DB2X-WP (VTO2311R) - Gets a notification bar but is not pushing the call unless you click into the DMSS app.

Obviously have found a bunch of people with similar issues unable to resolve and others who have no issues.

DMSS - Under Tool Manager > Push Notifications my app does say No door station (VTO) is added. Push test is unavailable? I added the VTO to DMSS via QR code and can see P2P and PaaS both online in the VTO web page
I have it linked to Home Assistant and can see all the functions working as it should, so it has to be something on our phones or apps I have missed

I have an Oppo Reno 5g Pro and partner has a S24 and believe we have all notifications and permissions enabled that we need. Anyone else have any ideas

I’m having the same issues as everyone else in here, ring notifications don’t push/ring constantly unless the DMSS app is open and phone unlocked, which is obviously not ever the case day to day when someone rings the bell. \

I’ve tried reinstalling the app and playing around with settings, deleting the device and re-adding etc, all to no avail.

I contacted Dahua directly to see if there’s a solution and was very disappointed with their response, basically all they said was they would pass my feedback onto the relevant team for future updates.

Another issue I have which again makes this product completely useless, whenever I’m not at home and connected to the same wifi as the device, I’ll get a notification that someone is at the door and has pressed the bell, IF I happen to catch the single notification, I click on it to open the app and answer the call, and every single time I get ‘Connection failed’ and cannot see who it is nor answer the call. My CCTV is online and loads fine so it’s definitely not a case of my wifi being down etc, just the VTO being a useless piece of junk.

I’ve decided to cut my losses on the ~$250 I spent on it and spend another $400 for a POE Ring doorbell Elite, which is disappointing not only because I wasted money on the Dahua VTO, but because I specifically purchased it as I wanted to keep my cameras/doorbell to a single app

More importantly than my above post, my VTO is literally inaccessible if I’m not connected to the home wifi, making it a completely useless product. If someone rings the bell when I’m not home, and I happen to get the notification in time, I get the message ‘failed to connect’ so can’t answer the call or see who is there. ( I can see who is there using my security cameras, but obviously can’t answer the VTO to speak to them, making it completely pointless)

Does anyone else have a similar issue and if so is there a fix?

I was already planning to replace it with a ring product because of the terrible notification system, but this issue literally makes it a product that does not perform its task, so I think I should be entitled to a refund from dahua

Sat down and tried figuring this out and I think I may have gotten the doorbell to ring fairly reliably, both on WIFI and via P2P when I'm on my just mobile's data.

On android - Go to DMSS app info by holding icon for 2-3 seconds
  • Manage Notifications - Under categories there was two DMSSVTO, however only the second one had the option for RINGTONE that worked - App Default - the dahua ringtone. I turned off the first DMSSVTO so it would not conflict.
  • Display over other apps - Allow
I also added the doorbell (DB2X-WP) a second time as a VTO via IP in DMSS app.
So, I now have 3 devices in my DMSS app
  • NVR
  • Doorbell added via QR code - P2P
  • Doorbell added via local IP - Local (VTO)

This will now give you the Push Shelf-Check Tool, found in ME>TOOLS>PUSH SELF-CHECK TOOL>DEVICE
Not sure if this tricked it into thinking it's a proper VTO setup or what but if your phone is on silent it still won't override that.

Will take some screenshots and test the setup better over the coming days to figure just what is needed to get this working properly and update post.

Beware with updating intercoms (VTO) to 2024 firmware (blue UI with animations, copied from latest cameras)..
Is even worse - intercom don't work at all without Dahua indoor monitors (VTH)..

In 2020 - 2022 firmwares (grey interface without animations) You could install intercom without indoor monitor using only DMSS app..
After pairing with DMSS, when You pressed button on intercom there were message "calling" and You received notification or call (depending if DMSS was in background) on DMSS..
It worked in many intercoms (mostly VTO2202F) which I installed in past years...

I bought 4202F-P1 (modular version of 2202F, very fresh release, not existed before) to replace some old modular Mobotix intercoms (exactly the same square dimensions, so I hope it will fit inside old flush mounted Mobotix boxes) - and it is with 2024 firmware from factory.

Now on a new firmware without monitor after pressing button on intercom You receive message 'Number You enter doesn't exists'..
I spent almost all yesterday evening trying to find solution to run this intercom without Dahua indoor monitor - tested all possible options in intercom and DMSS - no success.
Intercom don't even try to send notification to DMSS and simply informs about missing indoor monitor...

EDITED:
strange.. I did default to factory and one more time did welcome wizard..
This time there were missing 'calling' message, but with second message 'Number You enter doesn't exists'..
After adding in Device settings empty VTH entry for 9901 number intercom started to work like the one on old firmwares...

There is 'Calling' message, notification/call (depending if DMSS is allowed to be in background on iPhone ) on DMSS and everything works like on older models / firmware..
Intercom simply added over P2P.. Zero extra configuration / hacks ..

ps. VTO 4202F-P1 is first Dahua Intercom to my knowledge with night white backlight for small window plate with house number / first or second name...
