Hey guys, I’ve pretty much decided that I want turret cameras. I looking for 4 initially, must be dang near weather proof and be a great night camera. They will be in a very dark area. I’ve picked out 2, but think they are very similar. please let me know what you guys think and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

They are the same camera. See the 5442 starlights.

As pointed out above if you don’t need the Vari focal then have a look at the 5442, 4Mp and as good if not better night time performance. If you do need the Vari then there is a version of the 5442 with Vari but Andy has yet to receive his initial sample so might be a few weeks before they become generally available.

I agree with the suggestions above about checking out the 5442 models... they have better low-light image performance that the 5231s you're looking at (in your original post), plus they're 4MP.

Like @IAmATeaf mentioned, the only 5442 turrets that Dahua has ready-to-go-today are fixed-lens, although they've announced a 5442 varifocal turret model.

If you need a varifocal model and can't wait for the upcoming 5442 varifocal turret, check out the 3241 below. It's newer than the 5231 and has better low-light image specs.
