the DMSS app was updated the other day and the cams sound like they're underwater because noise reduction is on by defaut and there is no option to disable it anymore. is this a bug or permanent?

You disable noise reduction in the camera web interface? didn't know you could do it from the app!

that was already set with noise reduction disabled and still is.
Ah ok we'll any time I have had the underwater sound for clients all I have had to do is disable noise filter and it was fine.

I thought noise reduction was digital noise reduction for the image not audio.
 
Yes I remember and it was digital noise reduction which stops the image from having a static noise, not for audio, or so I thought.

No, it was for audio. It was the first thing I disabled when I installed DMSS and gDMSS plus where the setting is called "NR Setting" in the settings portion of "ME" section.
 
Agree with the NR setting being removed from DMSS. Happened a couple of updates ago. Audio awful now!
Yet again. Dahua sort it out!

Oh I've noticed. Most disappointing! I've been using a "anti tin can audio" app to resolve the problem.
Perhaps we will have the bugs sorted with many parts of the app, in the next update or next........! Something to look forward in the next few years.

They put the IVS/Motion markers on constant record though! Should be grateful.
 
They have updated the app a few times since then but have not fixed the audio issue. Currently v1.99.821 build date 2024-08-21

I have contacted the maker of the app by the email listed on google play and their website:


I suggest others do the same. Maybe if there's enough complaints they might realize there is an issue and fix it. That is if they even read their emails.

Not sure what your problem is, but i dont have any issues with audio and never had.

camera web disabled, nothing in DMSS

Maybe you are using P2P and the audio is encoded in cloud

I even tried viewing the cam by ddns and it's the same issue. There was a button in the DMSS app that was removed a few updates ago. This is the source of the issue.

I tried several systems an NON have the problem you are reporting.

According to the manual of DMSS your NR setting is only for video, which makes sense because audio dont have any level of noice reduction.

I was sure it was for DNR!

Disabling noise filtering is done in the web interface of the camera, I have explained this previously but jigg insists it's an app issue.

Yes, audio has noise reduction. You can see it in the audio settings on the cam and it was in the app. What version of DMSS are you using?

You couldnt set audio NR inside the app.
For you i even tried to setup a brandnew 5442-ze s3 and added it locally

Audio Noise reduction inside webinterface on -> it is clearly hearable inside DMSS

off -> its clearly hearable that its OFF inside DMSS

Yes, it was always in the app as well. It's still in gDMSS plus and it works there. The first thing I always did when installing the app on my phone or someone else's was to disable NR so it doesn't sound like the audio is under water. I believe I was taught to do that from this web forum many years ago. Like I said, they broke this feature in DMSS android app a few updates ago. I've tried it on 5 separate phones that access different cams and NVRs and all the same issue.
 
1. if you want good audio, login to camera web service, go to encoding -> audio and change audio encoding to AAC.. G.711A provides audio a old analog / 2G GSM quality (8000 samples means max frequency at 4KHz), AAC provides audio at DVD quality (AAC is a standard from DVD :)..

2. if you camera have Audio Noise filtering and You don't like it, go to camera web service and disable it.. it's simply.. You don't need for that DMSS settings..
