I do have a DS-2CD2432F-IW (6-2016) with V5.4.0 160530 that is bricked.
Can someone describe what the best method to bring it back to life?

there are many threads discussing how to unbrick these cams....no one can help you if you dont tell them how you bricked it..

@fenderman is correct - the origin of the problem informs the likely solution.
If it is a Chinese camera that has had EN/ML firmware applied, that triggers a deliberate trap by Hikvision, check out the brick-fix tool :
