DS-2CD2432F-IW no wifi?

Recently purchased a 2CD2432 for use as a baby monitor but I've run into a snag - I am powering the camera with a spare PoE switch, but I want to utilize the wifi as connection. The camera works perfectly on the network over PoE but becomes "unreachable" when off the network. It has my wifi SSID and password correct along with the security settings. SADPtool sees the camera when on wifi, but I can't reach it via http.

Firmware v5.2.5, brown box camera.

This is driving me mad.

Any suggestions?

So the PoE switch will be still powered on, and the camera will have a LAN connection that goes nowhere.
Are you using a static IP address?
And when trying to use WiFi, are you changing the NIC type from 'lan' to 'wlan' and rebooting?

SADPtool sees the camera when on wifi,
How does this compare with when it's wired?
Does it have a different IP address?
What response does the browser give when you try to connect to it?

*edit* "I am powering the camera with a spare PoE switch" Will likely be OK with a 12v power supply instead of the PoE switch.

The wifi should work fine with the POE used for power. I have tested this and it works..there is something else going on..

I tried that, it seems to default to 'lan' when I reboot, but the settings for wlan remain.

They have different IP addresses. http://i.imgur.com/Gtn6gZ6.png

The browser shows a typical "page cannot be displayed" error page.

enter your routers ipaddress in the ipv4 gateway box, that should resolve your issue.
Disable multicast.
Also
enter googles dns into the primary dns box 8.8.8.8

Tried that - no bueno.

I ended up stringing some CAT5e through the attic and calling it good. Maybe a bad chip/solder job on the wifi module?
