hi felas,
i have a cp2102 usb-ttl and pl2303hx,

i have a hikvision DS7732N-E4, board DS-80188-S4

i bought the NVR from ebay , apparently its a chines one, (from ys7.com) ezviz
DS-7732N-E4,
i have uploaded by mistake a firmware which was an europe (DS-7708NI-E4)

after doing so, i've done some testing on it, i was connected to the UART on the board and i was looking how everything is running, when i enter PIAS/system/devicinfo on the url, it restarted the NVR automaticly and then it got stuck on the boot logo, and after 15 beeps it restart again.. a boot loop.

so now when i am pluged into the UART what i see is gibrish, some random letters ,
speed 115,200
data bits 8
stop bits 1
parity none
flow control XON/XOFF and NONE

i have tried with all speeds possible, and cp2102 usb-ttl and pl2303hx but i still see gibrish

i've partialy read bricked Hikvision NVR (DS-7716N/16P) which looks really familliar to my case but i got stuck on step one. since i dont have any input/output on the terminal. (if i had i could some what enable the tftp server and set an ip but i cant get that)
and i am not able to find anywhere the right firmware for my NVR.

thanks alot in advanced :)

ok, so what i need to do to make it work?
I presume you are meaning initially the serial console.
Unless you have one of those 'cloned' interfaces, the manufacturer's drivers work best : Products
so now when i am pluged into the UART what i see is gibrish, some random letters ,
What are you actually plugged in to?
The PL2303HX will be for use on the serial TTL interface on the main board.
If you are connected via a 9-pin D-connector on the back panel, then it's likely to be a classic RS-232 interface, totally different signal levels.

i am connected to directly to the main board.
with this CP2102 USB 2.0 to UART TTL 6PIN Module Serial Converter Adapter Blue+Silver LW | eBay i downloaded this driver USB to UART Bridge VCP Drivers | Silicon Labs
result in gibrish
with this USB To RS232 TTL UART PL2303HX Auto Converter USB to COM Cable Adapter Module | eBay (windows 10 didnt need drivers)
result in gibrish
with this PL2303HX USB To RS232 TTL Auto Converter Module Converter Adapter For arduino | eBay
result in gibrish.

9 pin RS-232 is connected to the main board on 5 pins TX RX GND RTS CTS.
what i did was disconnecting the rs-232 ribon cable to this pins and attached to it the cp2102 & pl2303 instead.

That will be the cause of the problem, I believe.

TTL level signal are mono-polar, 0 to +3v
RS-232 signals are bi-polar, +-3 to +-15v
They are not compatible.
It looks like you need an RS-232 to USB convertor.

will this one do
In the sense of 'does the NVR require a modem or null-modem form of connection' - sorry, but I don't know.
And the product info linked to doesn't specify what it is either.
But no harm in trying - RS-232 is short-circuit proof, if it's wrong it won't do any harm, just won't work.

a litle update :)
i've bought the rs232 sparkfun SMD SparkFun RS232 Shifter - SMD - PRT-00449 - SparkFun Electronics and i am able to read the console! :)
so the rs232 sparkfun is connected to the DVR and CP2102 is connected to the sparkfun and the cp2102 usb is connected to the pc.
i am asked to enter CTRL+u but it seems that putty does not recognize any input of mine.

update :D
i have made it work. and now i am able to send commands/keys to putty, i guess it was a cable problem.

now i need the firmware for this chines hikvision which i dont find anywhere.
does any one have or know where i can find a firmware for ds-7732n-e4 ?
thanks ALOT in advance

Update 2:
i was able to find a firmware that the nvr accepted to upload.
this one NVR_78_79_EXX_V3.4.95_170626.zip
even tho it was meant for 77xx it worked.

no my new problem is chines , and non english interface.

i have tried hiktools05R1.rar but the problem is, the NVR does not allowing to flash it, as it see a different in the language (Hikvision FIRMWARE TOOLS - change language, extract files and create own firmware)

then after searching i came upon this. hikpack_2.5.zip
when using it with the NVR_78_79_EXX_V3.4.95_170626 the NVR did accept it to be flash BUT, the nvr is still in chines :s

For the ones who will google this thread searching for the solution, I can suggest check the connection of your cable. Here's the screenshot showing how output looks without (upper) and with (bottom) GND wire properly connected.
