Emergency Power/Storms/Prepping etc

If its grounded, I don't see an issue. Any live wires from the house that hit it would just trip the breaker

Power is still out, so 108 hours on generator. Doing well, zero issues. Grass behind the unit is taking a hit

Loaned out the Champion to another neighbor, ran good for another 20 hours no problem

Nah, I don't want to turn it off. It has low oil shutoff and low oil pressure shutoff so not too worried about the level

I'll report back when the power comes back, though

Utility company just released a new map that will "provide estimated restoration dates for substantially all impacted customers", checked the map and I'm in an area marked "Pending Further review"

So, that doesn't bode well. Will probably switch to the portable gen via interlock tomorrow and swap the oil, then I'll be good for another week or so

Man it’s crazy to me you still don’t have power. That power utility deserves to be crucified in the media for performing this poorly on power restoration after such a small hurricane.

Sucks.
We had same problem back in 2017. Power was restored to all of the neighborhoods around us days 3-5. We were an island of 70 some homes (our 41 plus 30 on the street behind us) Called every day still nothing on day 7 so I decided we needed more visibility.

We put the sign out at 10am.
Local news station arrives at noon (sign faces a major 4 lane artery so they must have got a call), Duke trucks arrive at 1pm, power back on at 2pm

we had 65+ sustained for an hour or two. Oak tree salad was 2-3 ft deep in the backyard

Honestly, who ever made that sign deserves a medal. :thumb:

Truly epic thanks for sharing . . . :headbang:

Thats fantastic! Love it

Still without power, 126 hours on generator

Changing the oil this morning

Still no power here but got an email stating should be back on by EOD 7/14/24.

They have crews working all around us now.

$11/Day at my current load

at 25% load the math says $20 a day, and virtually no one is running a constant 6.25kw load

Checked the oil yet?

Just changed the oil

Oil looked darker which is to be expected, as oil just gets dark with heat cycles anyway, but it looked clear. Checked the oil and it was 3/4 to full on the dipstick. Unsure how much would still drain into the pan once done, as I wanted to get back online quickly

I switched to portable generator via the interlock while I changed it, so the UPS's just held the load for the 10 seconds to and from all good :thumb:

Sample to send to Blackstone labs

Ordered the Ecoflow Delta 2 with 2 x 100W Rigid solar panels on sale from Slickdeals last week, and the panels just arrived. Only 100w each, but REALLY nice panels and easy to move

Got my power back! 6 days, 6 hours and 37 mins

I think that generator was one of my best purchases ever. Never missed a beat
