EmpireTech NVR8CH-8P-2AI - Setup Questions

What shows up under Maintenance?
Log, Manager, and System Info.
Under System Info there's a Manager Subfolder - with Update, Maintenance, Import/Export, Default, Advanced Maintenance, and Network Detection.
Ha! Found it. Buried under Default is Factory Default.

If asked, just dont reset the cameras, just the NVR

Only caution is the Full default will change the IP of the NVR back to 192.168.1.108

If thats the same range as your LAN no problem. If not maybe best to do regular default

Let me know if keep time out again, we can do a direct phone call support.

Ooops, I thought that the 3x factory reset solved the problem, but just noticed it had timed out ... it was up for many hours this time.

Note: I didn't put a zero in System "Logout Time" field this time. (Default is 10.)

The next adventure will be to sort out zooming the Loryta Starlight 'eyeball' and Reolink Doorbell cameras.

This is web page logout time or smartpss lite? Webpage i think will have a time it will log out.

A related question - is there any reason that I can't use a Raspberry Pi to log into the gui of the NVR to display the Live feed(s) on a large monitor?

(I want to be able to control the NVR and keep the images displayed. The only problem I'm thinking of is the video chip driving the 40" display.)

I use SmartPSS Lite to view live video of 9 to 16 cameras pretty much all day.

It’s free

It is, very sadly, only functional in a MS version of windows.

I only use Linux (and don't need the added complexity of the WINE interpreter to try to run such an app).

Someone must have tried a Raspberry Pi to log in and display the NVR GUI. @EMPIRETECANDY

EDIT: If they can do this then they should be able to port SmartPSS Lite to Linux ...

The timing-out of the NVR's Web gui seems to be worsening (shorter cycles) no idea why.

I did add feeds for two cameras (Reolink, RLC-410W, RLC-510A) that are also linked to the old Cobra NVR - both show green under Status (in Remote Devices) but neither is responding on the web gui for the Empiretech NVR (I can view them on the Cobra NVR).

The Reolinks are wired to a non-managed switch, then to the router.

What might I be missing about this, please? @EMPIRETECANDY

Perhaps I need to connect the 40" monitor directly to the NVR and just use the web gui for brief viewing and adjustments on-the-fly?

No because using the HDMI output from the NVR doesn't give you the same access as the web GUI and doesn't allow you to access the cameras directly, so changes are being made from the NVR and that is where issues happen.

Why can the cheap Cobra NVR access the Reolink cameras OK but the expensive latest-model Empiretech NVR cannot?

The cameras are being accessed via RTSP.

There is a difference between seeing the camera feed and accessing the actual camera GUI.

Are you saying you can access the actual reolink camera GUI from the cobra NVR - like you can't tell whether you are looking at the camera GUI separately or thru the NVR?
