Empiretech PTZ4K45X-AI settings

Even if you mount it higher at the actual position, it might be problematic.
Cars tend to speed up after the curve. Sure it can do tracking of fast object.. but it might be problematic if its so close the the cam itself. The car will be out of view too fast.

Not possible to mount the cam more away from the fence ?!

maybe somewhere here ?

I think duplo's suggestion is a good solution. Because the main problem here is the current ptz location is too close and too low to the driveway that the ptz can't track the cars when it pass by the area with speed. You can see the car takes up the whole screen of the camera after it turns the corner right next to the camera even with no zoom. The new spot duplo suggested will give the camera more reaction time and space to track the passing cars and getting better results.

I'm agreeing to the move ... don't want to waste this kind of money by not having it in the proper location. I've the cable guys coming to run a cable for me out to my weather cam, I'll get a pole up for this one that is 30ft or more from the driveway and higher up.

What do you guys think about this move. The pole will be about 50ft from the driveway. Trying to get it to where it will see a clear view of the driveway entrance, which you can see is about 184ft from where I am considering placing the pole.

The other two poles (yellow cirlces), the light pole and the other service pole are 130-135ft from where the new pole location would be. Will those stop the PTZ from tracking given they are so far away?

I also took my 12ft ladder out there and got my camera up about 17ft to snap a shot. I can probably mount the camera about 17-18ft up on the pole by taking my trailer out to the pole and standing my 12ft ladder on the trailer.

The fence is going to be blocking part of any vehicle traveling down the driveway... not sure if this will matter or not.

The issue with that is now the fence could cause the camera to not see the car properly enough to track it.

Any way you can temp mount it there?

It would be a lot of work, but I could probably pack it in around the pole without Quikrete initially, run the cable above ground, and test it.

I probably need to see how close it needs to be to clear the fence. I'll do some more experimenting.

It might work ok in the day, but I would be concerned about good tracking at night.

Could you mount on the ladder as a test?

I wonder what the ideal distances are to mount this unit. Is there a chart that shows how well it tracks based on distances vs. day and night?

Mounting on the ladder would only raise it to about 11 feet high, as it would drop a foot below the mount.

I may be able to come up with a way to pick the pole up with my pallet fork on my tractor by bolting a 2x6 across the pole. I may practice this method and see if it works. Then I can mount the camera at the top of the pole at about 20ft off the ground. The trick will be lowering it into the hole without jarring it, hence practicing with the pallet fork. The only issue is if I never need to service it, I'm gonna pay dearly to access it.

Are the lights necessary on this unit at night? It's not color, and there is a street light right next to it. How would I turn off the lights?

More light always helpful at night, but if you only want IR light on at night you can turn off "white light".

jmcu's got a video showing some of the setting of this ptz from his video before. Just set white light to off.

Late to the party here on this one. Is there any way to activate lights when it’s auto tracking and zooming and then have them turn off when tracking is complete?

I haven't seen any way to configure Dahua PTZs to switch lights on/off when starting or stopping autotracking, so I don't believe they can.

I would think similar to the hack I did for the 4K-T, you could set up a profile with the lights on and have BI send a profile change API when the camera is triggered and send an API to return to the other profile when the event is over.

But I am sure the API is different between the two cameras LOL, but maybe not.
