Instead of running a bunch of Cat6 down to the basement, I was thinking about putting a PoE switch in the attic so I just have one network cable to run. Will the summertime heat kill the switch? Anyone else do it this way or have any problems?

I also want to power the switch from the same source as the computer/router. Is there a PoE switch that can be powered by PoE?

Thanks!

Look at the Poe specs, I do not think it would be possible for a single Poe intput to supply the power for multiple outputs.

Industrail grade Poe switches , that supports 8 ports at above 150f will cost more than $230. Just do a Google surch
