Hi. I am trying to set up my system according to the principles laid out by the Cliff Notes and @nayr ‘s primers.
Here’s my evolving setup so far:
- ATT fiber internet
- Google WiFi mesh router x 4
- 7 Dahua Starlight Cameras
- i7 Dell Optiplex with an extra LAN card. This will be my Blue Iris server. It will be configure as a dual LAN setup. It will also run OpenVPN.
One thing I am still trying to figure out is setting the firewall rules. You see,my google WiFi router can do port forwarding to the OpenVPN server and it can also block internet access from the Dahua cameras. But the router has a limited firewall and can’t do the other things the Cliff Notes recommend like blocking everything except NTP time server or email.
My question is this: can the Windows 10 Firewall on my Blue Iris server take care of these things? Or do I need to get a more sophisticated router?
