man, that's one pissed off mechanic... cracking up when he says, "they put fuses where no man can put his hand" LOL
He has the same complaint I have encountered with these front wheel drives, screws (not fuses) are not easy to get to with an engine turned sideways. I had a 2008 Jeep Patriot that took me good part of a day just to put a new alternator on, I had to remove the bottom shroud, the compressor, several other things you should not have to remove just to get to the alternator, this thing was NOT MOUNTED ON TOP, like most engines, but in the middle towards the bottom. All previous Alternators I have done take less then an hour and I have done at least a dozen.

Miss the 70's, I use to seat on top of the fender with legs inside the engine compartment easily working on the engine...

I've walked a mile in that mechanics shoes LOL.
I have had to walk the fuck away from shit like that and do something else for a day before I choked somebody.
I've taken some 4 cylinder heads in for resurfacing back in my late 20's and 30's. Chrysler K cars and their other models Chargers, Dynastys etc... and 1- 80's something Pontiac Grand Prix or Am.....
I think 5 total.
Wagamon Bros. engine rebuilding would inspect heads and look for cracks They had some ability to fix minor cracks in Aluminum heads and resurface them.

Ist time I drove a rental Jeep just like the one he's working on, it had a VERY annoying amount of cabin noise when the engine revved.
Not the Jeeps I remember.
I believe it had a CVT transmission, because the engine would rev like my Nissans do. But with twice the noise.
Fiat Chrysler product.
I had a 77 Cherokee Quadratrac and a 92 Cherokee back when Jeeps were not going for MPG. Both were great cars for Winter.
