^^^ The main reason I have been self employed all of my life. I’m in charge of me and if I screw up I can only blame myself. If I succeed, no one can take that away from me.
I have worked both, I am glad I was a Sub-Contractor most of my life though. Being Self-Employed Rocks. In my first years doing so it took me a little bit of time to learn accounting, invoicing mainly and the end of year closing out the books, hundreds of receipts :). I remember coming home from 12 hour days and invoicing the jobs I did for the day, or at least record them to invoice later. QuickBooks became my friend...After the accounting my day ended.

I started getting smart and making record of all the receipts monthly instead of them piling up for the end of the year.

Still doing some weekend contract work at times.

...as I heard it, the problem with being self-employed is that you have to work twice as hard, and your boss is still an asshole...

;)

LOL, too true...maybe we are self-employed because no one wants to work with us...haha

One Huge benefit for my wife and I is only having to pay 9% avg. income tax. Self Employment tax has served us very well over the years. While others in our income bracket, family and a few friends were double that %, closer to 25%. But I did have many write offs at the end of the year. Mileage was a big one...my jobs took me all over...
