I was told something concerning the Hikvision NVR's and was wondering if it is in fact true. I was told that if you are considering the DS-7608 series NVR and plan to run more that 5-6 cameras that you are better off with the DS-7616 series that also has 8 poe jacks because of the difference in the "transfer rate?" between the two models. I see that the DS-7608 is listed at 50 mbps and the DS-7616 is listed as 100 mbps. This is all new to me can anyone explain this? I am thinking 4 cameras to start but can see myself with more like 7 down the road.

With 3mp camera over 8 channels 8x3=24mb by no means under pressure with 50mb.

The allowance of 50mb is down to the fact that it supports camera's upto 6mp per
channel.
The only real reason is future expansion.

Thank you for expelling that I did not realize what the connection was. So the eight channel would be more than sufficient.
