I normally use Dahua cameras and have no problem setting them up using SS motion detection, these generic ones have no motion bars next to the video preview- even when the whole window is set to detect them, motion detection in the schedule, lots of motion etc. Not even a blip. There is no option to do detection by camera. Any ideas? I have another NVR for continuous recording but Synology is best for alerts that actually reach my phone...

(I also posted in the Synology forums but it's a bit dead there so I was opening someone here had seen this problem before. Thanks for your help)

Possibly because the cameras don't provide ONVIF motion event notifications.
You can check this if you query the camera with ONVIF Device Manager from sourceforge.net
Give ODM the camera login details (top left) and it should find it automatically.
Check the Rules and Analytics info.
Any event generated will be on the Events page.

If it does generate ONVIF motion events, it could be added to SS maybe as a ProfileS device.
The 'ONVIF port' can be seen at the bottom of the Identification page.
