Grainy IPC-T2431T-AS-2.8mm night video - Looking for advice

The quality of this night capture is really bad. I have two IR illuminators, but the video is still grainy and pulsating. Here are my settings, would really appreciate some advice on getting this camera dialed in. Thanks

That is bad given the distance and added IR

Couple of ideas

• I dont like exposure ranges at night, try Manual 1/60 or better 1/120 if you can
• Do you have any backlight setting on?
• Turn sharpness down to maybe 45
• DNR turn down to 45 or 50 max - seeing obvious motion blur
• Gain try 50 or 10-50

Its not likely one thing but a combination. Try each one and see what it does "with movement" before making the next adjustment. But yeah start with exposure and turn down the DNR

Try H264H and for better quality 8192 CBR bitrate

I spend my nights adjusting Dahua cameras for my business and this problem comes from too low a flow rate. Sometimes the firmwares are bad and you have to increase the flow

The best firmware version is V2.800
Older firmware is much better at handling noise reduction
And this cam uses SC4238 CMOS sensor.
For low light there will be a lot of image noise.

I did a compare/test of this camera vs the chinese region 4433 back in 2019. For a sub $100 budget camera it did fine but I have a lot of ambient light and even with that you can see the noise.

Daytime was of course fine, but low light is NOT this or any camera with a 1/3 CMOS friend.
Here's a clip from that test switching from Floodlights, >>>then just coach lights,>>> then IR only.

Its still noisy even with great light but it was clearly superior to the 4433 which is what the comparison was about

Because Dahua used a large number of imported CMOS in the early days.
OMNIVISION or SONY
I remember HDW4433C-A using OMNIVISION Ov4689
After that, Dahua to support local industry.
Using domestic CMOS, there will be a period of pain.
Secretly tell you a good news, although Dahua's new 4MP still uses domestic CMOS.
New Cam CMOS uses SmartClarity®-2 New Technology released at the end of 2021.
In my test image quality and low-light performance, it has improved a lot.

As suggested, raise the bit rate to at least 8192, or even up to 10240.

Unfortunately, I don't have an option to go 8192 for bitrate. Perhaps it is the firmware version I'm running. Anyone have a link to the v2.800 firmware? I'll give it a try tonight. Thanks

Good Idea. I checked customize and it still limited me to 6144.

Is your FPS maxed at 15?

If not, play with that and the i-frame interval as well

Edit - I See your cam can do 2560 × 1440 (1 fps-25/30 fps)

Maybe try a lower res with a higher fps/matching i-frame

Max is 20... just updated it.

I don’t think fps has anything to do with the noisy image. It’s a function of light, exposure, and the sensor …

I've asked Andy for the v2.800 firmware. If he has it, I'll install it and see if night image quality improves.

The firmware of the version after v2.820 cannot be downgraded to v2.800 through the WEB in the usual way.
My approach is to use programmer.
Find the same camera and take out the firmware.
Replace hwid original partition data.
