I'm using BI 5.0.5.8. When I started using BI, I beleive that it did not support H.265 video, only H.264, or that it didn't support intel onboatd graphic hardware decoding of H.265 and that H.264 was the preferred codec.

What is preferred for the newer version of BI? Is H.265 as good as H.264 now?

Thanks.

Still the same. No Intel HA decoding of H.265.

BI.
H.265 hardware decoding works under Windows 10 for Kodi, so it's possible.
I think it's because Ken (BI developer) doesn't have the hardware (and time/incentive) to test it and get it working. I've asked him a few times through support.

Thanks. You’d expect using the latest codecs would be on the roadmap, especially when it pays dividends in HD requirements/capacity.

Seems like this is a reasonable expectation for a major release, like v5.

h.265 isn’t exactly new. Maybe he is holding off for h.266 and will skip h.265 altogether.

He instead concentrated on getting it working with Nvidia Cuda GPUs, but then you are increasing your power consumption.
