Hello,
I had a company install 8 Cameras 5 years ago at my house. At the time I was told these were the best cameras (HD-SDI). There was a robbery next to my house a few days ago so the police asked for some footage. I logged into the dvr and it froze. I then turned the power off then back on. Now the DVR won't get passed the boot screen. I called the camera company and they are saying the system is very outdated and the DVR is probably dead and I cannot find a dvr for this. Please help as I spent over $2000 for this system with installation. Is there another DVR I can buy and plug in... I went to micro center and bought a Hikvision HD DVR. The plugs for cameras and everything fit but I am not able to get the cameras to show up. Maybe I am doing something wrong in setup.

Model number on existing DVR SR303-8

Attached are specs of the system and my screen

Remove the hard drive and see if it boots.
Those were never the "best cameras", most of these installers are full of crap. Dont use these guys again.
Hikvision only has 2 SDI dvrs still for sale and they are old, the 7200 and 7300 - one of which you likely have.
You are much better off replacing the cameras and DVR.
If you can run new cable or they ran ethernet and used baluns go with an ip system - read the cliff notes.
If they ran coax and you cant rewire, then you can either use dahua epoe with baluns and use ip cameras (best solution) or hikvisiion tvi cameras and dvr or dahua CVI dvr and cameras.

I have the same issue as the first post. 8 channel dvr circa 2011 that just died with what I presume are HD-SDI cameras that connect via BNC. It cost us $8k back in 2011 for this setup, so I'm hoping to not have to change the existing cameras and they're complex cabling throughout our condo building, not to mention a $20k estimate to replace and upgrade everything that was suiting us just fine up until the dvr died. I made the mistake of buying a Tigersecu dvr, that I was able to setup easily except realizing it's not compatible with HD-SDI. Are there any HD-SDI to HD-TVI or CVI adapters out there, or is the solution mentioned in the last post still the best route: Duhua POE dvr using baluns converts. If so how do baluns work? Does each one require power? Does each generate it's own IP address that needs to get manually entered? Apologies I'm new to all this.
