Hello, I purchased a 10TB WD purple for my new NVR. It gave me an error when I tried to format it in the NVR setup. I put the 10TB hdd in my computer to try and format it there but diskmanager didn't even see it. I am sure its above the size limit for my version of windows. I sent it back as I thought I had a bad HDD. My friend loaned me two 500GB drives that he isn't using. Plugged them in and all was great. I ordered a Seagate 8TB hdd to replace the loaners. I go to format the Seagate with the NVR's web interface and it doesn't see anything except the one loaner drive that I left in there. I read where this specific NVR supports up to 10TB before purchasing. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Evan

Also on the Dahua website it says 10TB per HDD. Not sure why its different on the other site. Either way, I am still wondering why it wont see my new 8TB. Surely not because I'm using the web interface??

8/16/32Channel 1U 4K&H.265 Pro Network Video Recorder (V2.00)

Copied from the Dahua site. I found a hdd compatibility list that shows now 10TB compatibility and only 1 8TB drive compatibility. Looks like I get to try a 3rd drive

Hello,

what have you found out with the drives?
I have the same NVR bought in 2019 and the list
says that it supports 2x12TB.
I bought a 12TB drive WD121PURZ-85GUCY0 and it doesn't recognize it. It works fine with the 6TB WD60PURZ. In the menu the NVR says that it has the latest firmware 30/5/2018.
Any ideas what should I try? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

We have seen those issues here before , I think the fix might have been to default the NVR with the new drive in place.

Before I delete all current settings on the NVR - is there a way to format the new 12TB disk on a PC and could it help so the NVR can detect it maybe?
What file system does the NVR use?

Its not the format, Its either going to see it or not regardless of the way its formatted.

Hello Evan434sbc, may we ask what firmware version the NVR is running?

As I'm wondering about HDD support in different versions, so later ones may have more HDD compatible with them.

It's just an idea.

Don’t use USB mouse or monitor on machine setup. Also seen this create problems.

Wish I’d found tread be spending 3 hours trying to set mine up... mine keeps beeping (4x) and not image after initial NVR screen... worked out that it was stuck one 720p and tv didn’t like it so have to plug it into VGA and chang to 1080p. Just purchased 2x 1tb WD 10PURZ today do I need to format it first with computer or just plug it in and use the DVR GUI?

Just plug it in while NVR is off and turn the ON switch, it will format it by itself.
