I have 4 of IPC-HDW5231R-Z cameras, three installed thus far. I've noticed the available frame rates within Dahua camera setup for each one is different, in the drop down, one goes all the way to 60 FPS, one goes up to 50 FPS and the other one only goes to 25 FPS. Doesn't seem to matter that one firmware is slightly older than the others.
I'm wondering why the differences between the three cameras? How do I fix this?

cam 19 firmware = 2.460.0000.7.R 2017-03-06 Max frame rate in drop down= 50fps
cam 20 firmware = 2.460.0000.7.R 2017-03-06 Max frame rate in drop down= 25fps
cam 21 Firmware = 2.460.0000.3.R 2017-01-05 Max frame rate in drop down= 60fps

IIRC, the 50 and 60 might be due to PAL vs NTSC firmware versions. Not sure about the 25.

Have you made any changes to the Shutter speed in the Exposure section?

PAL wouldn't have 60fps, so one seems to have NTSC firmware flashed. Did you check your substreams? Maybe main stream can't give you 50fps if third substream is to high. Didn't test with the 5231, but have seen this behavior with other models.

I agree, however I have plenty of horsepower and storage and would like to see at least 30fps. I'll make the settings apple's to apple's and see if I achieve higher available fps.

there is zero benefit...zero...might as well halve the fps then halve the bitrate and double your storage.

I've read into that just a little bit but I was more concerned about not having the option to go up higher on one of the cameras.

Thanks for your advice!

Still getting the hang of it.

Actually you will drain some of the camera processor horsepower running max bitrate and framerate leaving very little or none left for IVS and other features you may want to use.

I run mine at 15 fps and medium bitrate but the other day I had 10 tripline (tripline per rule with a max of 10 rules), I started to notice that my tripline was choking and chugging even missing some triggers. The video was freezing a lot during events occurrence so I felt having 10 different rules was choking on the camera processor. I deleted 9 rules and zig zag one tripline across my yard, now the performance is much better and very little freezing during triggers because it all same one line instead of 3 or 4 lines going off at same time.

I am having the same problem. I have two IPC-HDW5231R-Z cameras and they will only go up to 30 fps.

Device Type - IPC-HDW5231R-Z
Software Version - 2.460.0000.7.R, Build Date: 2017-03-06
WEB Version - 3.2.1.427921
ONVIF Version - 2.42

PN: 1.0.01.04.18696 S2

Any suggestions regarding how to add 60 fps support?

Looking through the online help, I noticed the following:

Frame Rate(FPS) 50Hz: 1~25f/s,60Hz: 1~30f/s.

Perhaps 60 fps is no longer supported.

After playing with the settings for some time I have determined that the issue is related to the "Smart Codec" setting. When I turn "Smart Codec" off, 60 FPS is available. When I turn "Smart Codec" on, the maximum frame rate is 30 FPS.

I also observed that turning Smart Codec on disables IVS features.
