To clarify, on average the nvr's user about 1/2 to 1/3 the power of a pc if you are using a modern efficient pc.The NVR cost is 1/10th of BI.
You need to compare apples to apples. You cannot compare an old pc with a new nvr. A modern efficient i5 haswell pc will consume about 30-40w with an average load.Well...my pc took 100W while the NVR takes 10W. I have an older i3 pc which was heavily loaded using BI.
That's the problem. First generation i5. Video card if you have one adds lots of consumption. Inefficient power supply adds lots of consumption. A new pc will draw much less. With 4 x 3mp cameras you are looking at 25-30w or so.The i5 pc i have is 5 years old.
Yes, you guys in Europe get a raw deal. I just purchased 4 i5-4590 pc's for 280 eachThat might be possible...i had the choice beween an NVR and a new pc. Unfortunately à pc is way more expensive...so i choose for the NVR.
