I assume this restores it to the firmware it was shipped with and erases any flashed updates (like the SPSS configuration), sorry if a dumb question, still learning.

No, that is incorrect. It does not erase any firmware. All it does is reset all of the settings that you changed back to the factory defaults. This would include passwords, IP address, etc.
