Hello everyone. I'm looking to do a DIY install to create outdoor surveillance for my business. I could really use recommendations for cameras that would suit my needs. Below are images of the area that show measurements as well as the zones I would like to cover.

Thank you.

Requirements:
  • Outdoors
  • Night time
  • Power over ethernet
  • Cameras must attach to building
  • Ability to identify face and license plate (green zone and orange zone)
  • Area surveillance (blue zone)

Pretty ambitious DIY project you have there... One of the Pro's will likely stop by with some good advice....I count 2 LPR cams, 4-5 Starlights along the two sides of the building, and maybe 2-3 including a PTZ covering the yard... good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome Bacon,

Looks like you've got a fun job lined up.

looney2ns and bigredfish have given you a great start.

I suggest picking up a varifocal Dahua OEM 2MP starlight camera, microSD card, and a PoE power source and start playing with one camera and trying out various locations and learning more before jumping in to buy a complete set. ( IPC-HDW5231xx is typically the go to camera for most of us )
