I recently purchased a Synology NAS to extend my video surveillance abilities, but i'm not having the easiest time getting blue iris to save the files directly over to the NAS. Both the PC and NAS are on the same Network. Any one that has gone through this before and can help me with a step by step process?

Check out this comment about trying to write directly to a NAS device.

Off the top of my head, you need to have 'smb service' installed in package center. Then using the file station app, create a shared folder. You should then be able to access this folder by using the ip and folder name (example \\192.168.1.11\Blue Iris) and then in Blue Iris, you just map one of the folders to that address. Also, you may want to consider creating a user specifically for BlueIris and limit what it can do in user settings. The 'new' folder is on a small drive on my Blue Iris PC and then the stored folder is on the Synology. Works great for me and never had a problem so far (about a year now)

Edit to add - I think this is the video that covers it
